Workplace: 100 Prince Edward St, Saint John, NB E2L 4M5
Status: Full time 40 hours per week (including evening and weekends)
Salary: 16$ / hour
Reporting to the Property Manager, the Security Agent is responsible for safeguarding our assets, staff, and visitors. You will be tasked with maintaining a safe and secure environment by implementing preventive measures and responding appropriately to incidents.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor premises by controlling access to property and directing visitors to appropriate areas.
- Conduct regular patrols to inspect various areas and identify irregularities.
- Check doors and windows to ensure they are properly locked.
- Preserve order and enforce security regulations to prevent disturbances or theft.
- Expel intruders and unwanted loiterers as necessary.
- Verify alarm systems and fire detectors, adjusting as needed.
- Identify and report fire hazards, malfunctioning equipment, and utility disruptions to relevant authorities.
- Respond to emergencies, including fire, medical situations, and hazardous materials incidents.
- Alert police, firefighters, and ambulances when necessary.
- Prepare logs and reports as required for security incidents and activities.
- Cooperate with authorities in reporting security violations or suspicious activities.
- Provide effective information and direction to visitors.
- Address tenant inquiries, handle lost items, and refer customers to appropriate personnel.
- Conduct light cleanup duties, including maintaining cleanliness in common areas.
- Maintain a safe environment by patrolling for hazards, unlocked doors, and security violations.
- Engage in additional duties as assigned based on business necessity.
Skills and qualifications:
- Previous experience as a security agent or in a similar field is a plus.
- Knowledge of security procedures and risk prevention techniques.
- Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues and clients.
- Excellent physical fitness and ability to stand for extended periods.
- Quick responsiveness and ability to remain composed in stressful situations.
- Ability to understand and enforce establishment security rules and regulations.
- Availability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
