Academy Coordinator

Club de tennis Ile des Soeurs

Location: Tennis Club Ile des Sœurs, 300 Ch. Du Golf, Verdun, Montreal, QC.

Status: Full-time, permanent

Schedule: Variable, to be discussed and confirmed

Work Division: 60% Administrative and 40% Coaching

Salary: Starting from $80,000 per year

 

Established in 1971, this impressive sports complex offers its members 20 tennis courts as well as a sports center of more than 10,000 square feet located just minutes from downtown Montreal and the South Shore. You would find a team of passionate professionals entirely devoted to its members.

 

Reporting to the General Manager, the Academy Coordinator plays an essential role in the management and growth of the Tennis Club's Academy. He or she will be responsible for overseeing and managing the daily activities of the Academy, ensuring smooth and organized operations. Leading a team of tennis professionals, the Coordinator will contribute to achieving our financial goals and continually enhancing the customer experience. It is crucial to note that this position involves 60% administrative tasks and 40% coaching responsibilities.

 

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and coordinate all activities of our Academy, from event scheduling to program management, including school transport logistics.
  • Recruit and select students (athletes) in accordance with quotas and standards established by the Academy.
  • Act as a leader for the Academy's coaching team.
  • Outline annual goals and training phases in collaboration with coaches.
  • Develop lesson plans in harmony with Tennis Canada's DLTA.
  • Ensure on-court follow-up based on established development goals.
  • Manage reservations and cancellations of courts for Academy activities.
  • Plan and coordinate social activities for the Academy.
  • Communicate with clients (parents) and tennis organizations, including Tennis Canada and Tennis Quebec.
  • Manage schedules for Academy tennis coaches.
  • Supervise coach and monitor their presence on-court.
  • Hold annual coach meetings.
  • Maintain the Academy's budgetary stability through participation in the annual budgeting process.
  • Create groups with the assistance of coaches.
  • Coordinate fitness sessions for those under 12 and integrated fitness for the Sport-Studies program.
  • Facilitate monthly meetings for Academy coaches.
  • Manage the planning of Academy summer camps in collaboration with the Director of Operations.
  • Conduct on-court training rounds if needed.
  • Ensure ongoing coach training through meetings, training session interventions, and Tennis Canada webinars.
  • Attend meetings with Tennis Canada and the Coaches Commission.
  • Head coach for the Sport-Studies program.
  • Manage Sport-Studies requests from different schools, parents, etc.
  • Manage and follow up on admissions requests with parents.
  • Plan individual evaluation sessions.
  • Perform any other related tasks necessary for the smooth operation of the Academy.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • College degree in administration is an asset.
  • Tennis Canada Certification 3 or 4.
  • Experience in developing young high-level athletes.
  • Excellent communication, team management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in computer tools and software.
  • Strong administrative skills.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar position.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and holidays.
